Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan
Garni pagan temple was built in the 1st. century A. D. and consists of dwellings, bath quarters built in the 3rd century in the Roman style. After Armenia converted to Christianity in the 4th century the Armenian kings used the temple as their summer residence. We will have a tour around Garni and also participate in lavash baking process. We will then have a lunch with traditional Armenian food.
Proceed to Geghard Monastery, which is, by the way, listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The main church, constructed in 1215, is the oldest building in the monastery complex. The monastery has withstood many assaults. It was one of the greatest spiritual and cultural centers in Armenia. Hundreds of khachkars (cross-stones) and caves are carved in the rocks surrounding the Monastery. After the tour, we will return to Yerevan.
Yerevan - Areni - Noravank - Tatev - Yerevan
Early in the morning, we move to Noravank, which is a 13th-century Armenian monastery. Noravank Monastery is situated deep in the Noravank canyon. It's a masterpiece both for its architecture and its marvelous setting. You will stay impressed not only with the appearance of the monastery but also the surrounding beauty of the nature that takes one's breath away.
After visiting Noravank, we will visit Areni Wine Factory in Ashtarak where you will have a wine testing tour. Armenia is one of the most ancient cradles of grape growing and winemaking traditions. You will enjoy different tastes of the wines which are subtle, deep and have bouquet.
Proceed to Tatev Monastery. Monastery of Tatev is a 9th-century Armenian monastery located in Tatev village in Syunik Province in southern Armenia. The monastery performed an important role in the history of the region, becoming its political, spiritual and cultural center. In Tatev there is a cable railway over the spectacular gorge of Vorotan near Halidzor. Wings of Tatev is a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway between Halidzor and Tatev Monastery. It is the longest reversible aerial tramway built in one section only. Taking the aerial tram called the Wings of Tatev, you will "fly" above the gorge of Vorotan River. You will see the nature of the amazing mountainous region of Syunik from the birds-eye view.
After the tour, we will return to Yerevan.
